Accessibility

Built to be used by everyone.

We aim for WCAG 2.2 level AA. Here is what we did, what we know is not perfect, and how to tell us.

What we do

What is in place.

  1. 01Keyboard. Everything works without a mouse, with a visible focus ring and a skip link.
  2. 02Contrast. Text meets WCAG AA (4.5:1). Our lightest grey is used for decoration only, never for text.
  3. 03Motion. With reduced motion switched on, animations become instant or fade, and nothing is lost.
  4. 04Transparency. With reduced transparency or increased contrast, glass surfaces become solid with a visible border.
  5. 05Touch. Buttons and links are at least 44 by 44 pixels.
  6. 06Forms. Every field has a label, errors are announced, and what you typed is kept if sending fails.
  7. 07Text size. Sizes are in rem, so your browser’s text settings scale the page.

Known limitations

Not perfect yet.

  1. 01Firefox. We have not yet been able to test in Firefox ourselves.
  2. 02The animated eyes. The desk companion demo is decorative; everything it shows is also in text and buttons.
